So, I was never a LOST fan. I just finished watching the series finale, after I saw a re-cap of everything.
Some questions. Was the island actually purgatory, and those on the island were 'lost' souls that had to unite and "remember together"?
Was the island Heaven?
Did everyone die in the original flight crash during the first episode or did they die on their own, during the series' duration?
Were all of the 'flash sideways' scenes back on the mainland of dead souls trying to find the afterlife?
MOST IMPORTANTLY: if the island was Heaven, are we to assume we'll be able to be mauled by Polar bears there?
Oh, and is this a cool shirt design?

The series finale reveals that the flash-sideways timeline is actually a form of limbo, where some of the survivors and other characters from the island are reunited after having died because their time on the island had been the most important part of their existence. In the end the survivors are all reunited in a church where they "move on" together. so it's jsut limbo not heaven
